Meet Nate Smith

Nate Smith

Nate and his wife, Karie, both grew up in Grinnell, Iowa. They married in August 1995. Service has been a common theme throughout Nate’s career, which he considers a privilege. Early on, Nate worked for his Dad’s carpet cleaning business, but as the physical demands of the job took a toll, they made a change and moved to Watertown, Wisconsin. There, Nate attended Maranatha Baptist Bible College and studied to become a Pastor. By the time he graduated with his Master’s in Biblical Studies, he and Karie had five daughters. They moved to Golden, Colorado, where Nate worked as an Athletic Director, PE Teacher, Bible Teacher, and Coach. They had one more (and final) daughter—six in total. After three years in Colorado, Nate and Karie moved back to their hometown, where Nate worked for thirteen years as the Grinnell College Custodial Supervisor as well as Assistant Football and Baseball Coach. As the years passed, Nate increasingly felt drawn to pursue the vocation he had prepared for in college, a decision that ultimately brought him and his family to Marshfield, Wisconsin. Nate now serves as the Discipleship Pastor at Faith Fellowship and chaplain for the Marshfield Fire and Police Departments. Nate and Karie enjoy three granddaughters, a grandson, and an additional grandson on the way. They both feel very blessed to feel connected to the Marshfield community in such a short amount of time and are excited to see what the future holds here.
