Keep Kids Warm Event Coming Soon!
The Marshfield Area Community Foundation is getting ready for our Keep Kids Warm event. Last year we gave out over 240 coats, hats, & mittens. This year we have already registered 153 new kids (63 new families) as well as 148 returning kids. Registration will continue through September and we’ll work with guidance school staff to make sure no student gets missed for a warm coat, hat, & mittens. We’re anticipating well over 350 coats will be given out this year.
Due to the increase in kids needing coats, we have added an additional pick-up day for Keep Kids Warm. The event will run on Thursday, October 7th & Friday, October 8th from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday, October 9th from 9 a.m. -12 p.m. at the Oak Ave. Community Center.
Each year it typically costs about $6,000 to purchase coats, hats, & mittens for this event. Due to the increase in students to serve, we anticipate spending more to meet this need. Preparing kids to go back to school can cost families hundreds of dollars each year. This event helps take away the stress of their kids being warm walking to school, going out for recess, or joining friends at the sledding hill.
